Photographers and painters join forces in new gallery show

For the first time in Osoyoos, photographers and painters have teamed up to do a joint gallery show, “Pixels & Paint,” which runs from Saturday, March 30 to Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Due to the temporary closure of The Art Gallery Osoyoos for asbestos remediation, this show is being hosted at the Okanagan Art Gallery at 8302 Main Street in Osoyoos, between La Marqueza and Shoe Biz.

The show features work by members of the Osoyoos Photography Club and Artists on Main. The painters selected photographs as inspirations for their own interpretations, and the photographs and paintings are displayed next to each other. Some of the photographs are not accompanied by paintings.

Numerous works by members of the Okanagan Art Gallery cooperative remain on display at the same time.

A First Friday Grand Opening is scheduled for Friday, April 5 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Artists on Main Osoyoos welcomes both accomplished artists and those who are newer to painting and wish to improve. They meet at Studio 89 above the gallery and have about 70 members. They work with acrylics, watercolours, oils and mixed media.

The Osoyoos Photography Club holds monthly meetings at the Elks Hall, and also meets for special events such as group photo walks.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
