“Vision and Variety” is an exhibition by two BC artists, Barry Rafuse and Twyla Exner, which opens on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at The Art Gallery Osoyoos and runs until April 22.

Rafuse, from the Vernon area, does large abstract paintings in mixed media and acrylic. Exner, from near Kamloops, does smaller sculptures with wires from discarded electronics.

Rafuse says he only rarely starts a painting with preconceived ideas or a predictable outcome. Rather, he capitalizes on “happy accidents” when paint and textures interact. His style is loose and bold.

Exner, who lives as a visitor on the Tk’emlupste Secwépemc territory, says her sculptures propose hybrids of technological structures and living organisms.

The Art Gallery Osoyoos is located at 8713 Main Street, Osoyoos, just west of Town Hall. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
